Do not buy overly tempting junk foods foods and put them in the house. If you don’t have a freshly baked cake sitting on your kitchen counter, you won’t be faced with constant temptation. Keep healthy snacks available as an alternative. For example, make a healthy amount of fresh vegetable and store it in a container or stock up on some whole-grain crackers which you can eat for a fast snack.
You need to eat the right amount of calories every day. Any types of starvation diets aren’t good for the body for a variety of reasons. One reason is that when you withhold food, your body slows its metabolism in order to try and hang onto your energy stores, which is another word for fat. Plus, starvation diets usually result in what is called binge eating, which means you end up gaining back the weight you lost once you continue to eat normally.
Though popular, fad diets are not always the best way to safely lose weight. You should avoid them if you seriously want to lose weight. Modern fad diets can hurt you because you are cutting out all of one thing. These diets include the cottage cheese diet or cabbage diet. Even worse, they will not help you eat better. Choose a diet where you can recognize the nutritional benefits of everything you eat.
Who does not enjoy french fries? French fries are bad for those trying to lose weight. That said, if you absolutely must have french fries, have baked fries instead of those that are fried. Start by slicing your potatoes into 1/2 inch long fries. Then, place them in a bowl with a tablespoon of oil and lightly dust them with salt, pepper, and rosemary to taste. Bake a single layer of the fries for 30 minutes at 400 degrees. Gently loosen and turn the fries with a spatula, then bake for a final 10 minutes. They’re really delicious with ketchup, a lot lower in calories and you’ll never miss the deep frying. These “French Bakes” were provided by Laurel’s Kitchen cookbook.
